The round grab grips under tension and locks around the pipe. This
facilitates gripping away from the centre of the mass. The grabs
are independent of pipe length, only one grab is required for any
length of pipe. The grabs envelope 70% of the pipes diameter and
have an automatic release mechanism to facilitate operation without
auxiliary personnel. Coated pipes are not damaged by the wide gripping
arms.
When knocking against sheeting or hitting the ground by mistake,
the built in cable and the form-closed design prevents an immediate
opening of the round grab, thus holding the pipe arms firmly and
safely.
